Federal Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988

The Federal Drug-Free Workplace Act requires contractors and grantees to maintain a drug-free workplace.


California Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1990

Companies that have a contract or grant with the State of California must certify that they have a drug-free workplace program in place which does the following:

POLICY for DRUG FREE WORKPLACE


Under the guidelines of the Drug Free Workplace Act of 1988, the company is committed to providing for a drug free workplace, including all places where company business is conducted, whether it is at company offices, property, vehicles or any other company place of business.

All employees are absolutely prohibited from unlawfully manufacturing, distributing, dispensing, possessing or using any controlled substance or alcohol in the workplace without official documentation that the use is under medical supervision.

The employee shall have no expectation of privacy. The employer, from time to time, and without notice, shall inspect any and all personal property on company premises. The company does use specially trained narcotic detection dogs to find and remove any illegal contraband, in response to the companies desire to protect the safety of all employees.

Any employee violating this policy is subject to disciplinary action, including termination, for the first offense.

As an employer resolving to maintain a drug free workplace, employees will be provided educational information on the dangers of drug abuse and drugs in the workplace. Supervisors will receive training in identifying and addressing drug use by employees. This policy takes effect immediately.


Standard of Conduct, Bulletin Board Notice

>From time to time and without prior announcement, inspections by Drug Detection Dogs may be made of anyone entering or leaving the property, including company employees, employees of contractors or their subcontractors or agents doing business with this company, and others such as visitors and guests.

Entry onto company property is deemed consent to an inspection of person, vehicle, and personal effects. If you do not consent to inspection, please do not enter or remain on the property.

The use, possession, sale, transfer or purchase of illegal drugs is not allowed in any office or work location of this company. When appropriate, items violating this policy, found in the course of an inspection, will be taken into custody and may be turned over to appropriate law enforcement agencies.
